A delegation of traders from European countries to the ongoing Odisha MSME International Trade Fair 2014 here has expressed keen interest in sourcing leaf plates and plant containers from the State.
Hana Meiners, a representative of leaf Republic ltd (a plant container manufacturer company) from Germany, held discussions with State MSME Secretary Panchanan Dash on Saturday in this regard. She was confident that Odisha could become a major exporter of these items to European as well as to other countries.
The demands of eco-friendly and healthy plastic products are high in European countries and the need of these hygiene products have been growing day by day in Western and other countries, she added. However, she was of the view that the Odisha entrepreneurs should maintain international standards and qualities while manufacturing the products.
“Odisha is blessed with ample natural resources and raw materials to set up these types of industries, and we are hopeful to make export activities with the local plant container manufacturers and rural people and knot the trade relationship with Odisha if the quality of these products matches to international standards,” said Meiners.
Panchanan Dash said the State Government would extend all support and cooperation in facilitating export of SME products to the interested buyers overseas.
State Director of Export Promotion and Marketing BK Das said efforts are being made to make Odisha an export hub in SME business by creating opportunities to export MSME products. Efforts would also be made to make the State’s MSME entrepreneurs aware on how to maintain international standards and qualities in manufacturing so as to fulfil the demand for exports.
