Reiterating its demand for establishment of the ESIC Medical College Hospital at Rourkela, the members of Sachetan Nagarika Mancha (SNM) have decided to organise a rally and submit a memorandum to the Union labour Minister through the ADM.
According to SNM general secretary PP Ray, though Rourkela is a genuine place for the project, but the State Government in a deceitful manner has urged the Centre to establish it in Bhubaneswar.
Ray further said the SNM demands early completion of formalities for declaring the Rourkela as a Municipal Corporation.
“It appears the matter is delayed as the present Rourkela Municipality’s population is below three lakh and there are protests by residents in some parts proposed to be included in the corporation,” said Ray.
He demanded that the Government should add the areas which are still neither in any panchayas and the Municipality but desire to be in the Corporation.
He further said the Steel Township which was declared as an Industrial City may be added with the Corporation cancelling an agreement with the Rourkela Steel Plant as the latter has failed to obey the clauses of the agreement.
