The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch on Thursday wrote to the State Finance Department seeking permission to attach properties of two chit fund companies, the Biswa and the Credible Micro Finance limited.
The EOW sought permission from the State Government to attach the properties under Section 3 of the Odisha Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 2011.The movable and immovable properties belonging to the two Ponzi firms include 10 acres of land, Rs 55 lakh bank account, two buildings and one petrol pump at Sambalpur. The owner of the two companies Khirod Mallick is now lodged in Jharpada jail.
