The Commissionerate police have sought the help of the State Crime Branch’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to investigate into the financial bungling committed by Jyoti Ranjan Beura alias ‘Golden Baba’.
The twin city police have written to the EOW to probe into all angles of the financial frauds committed by Buera.
The police had arrested Beura on December 31 in connection with a fraud of Rs 12 crore. A total of four cases are pending at different police stations in the city against the accused. Two cases have been filed with the Chandrasekharpur police and one each at the Laxmisagar and Saheed Nagar police stations.
Besides, there are allegations of inter-State fraud against Beura as some people from as far as Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh have levelled charges against him.
Few days back, the Student Congress had alleged about Beura’s links with some leaders of the ruling BJD. Sources said the EOW is also likely to probe into the alleged link between Beura and political leaders.
