The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested chit fund firm Flourish India’s director Pradeep Kumar Das for allegedly duping investors of more than Rs60 crore in Odisha. Crime Branch DIG Sanjay Kumar said Das was arrested on the basis of the complaints lodged by duped investors against the firm in the Baliguda police station in 2012 and in the Barpali police station in 2013.
The EOW had already booked three directors including the company’s CMD Prasanna Das under law before arresting Pradeep Das from the Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar. Altogether 12 people of the company, including the directors, have been arrested so far, the DIG said. Kumar said the EOW has written to the Finance Department for attachment of 251 acres of land of the company along with its two seized vehicles and Rs1.52 lakh in the company accounts.
