Dhenkanal district Collector Bishnu Prasad Panda on Tuesday warned members of the Dhenkanal Bar against taking law into their hands in the matter of opposition to the functioning of ENZEN company in collection of electricity bills.
The Collector has said that the district administration cannot go against Government policy by driving ENZEN out of Dhenkanal. Any kind of public demonstration and protest against ENZEN can only be tolerated if it remains within the legal limits, he observed.
Presiding over a meeting held among district administration and Dhenkanal Bar members regarding the latter’s demand for ouster of ENZEN, the Collector further said ENZEN has been engaged to do better work for the people and its performance should first be watched and then judged.
ADM Sushama Rani Devi said that the district administration cannot bow its head to any threat.
Dhenkanal SP Manoranjan Mohanty claimed that the arrest of the persons made in connection with the Anandnagar incident on May 24 was on genuine grounds and within legal limits.
The police have enough evidence including photographs relating to the accused persons indulging in the ransacking of theENZEN office at Anandnagar, he added.
