Entrepreneurs don’t need to renew licence every year

The State Government has taken a major step under its ‘ease of doing business’ programme to encourage entrepreneurs to conduct hassle-free businesses.

The Government has eliminated the annual licence renewal system for shops and commercial establishments after realising the difficulties faced by the entrepreneurs, a release of the Labour and ESI Department said.

Earlier, the entrepreneurs were depositing prescribed fees to renew the licences under the Orissa Shops and Commercial Establishments Rule, 1958. Now, the Government annulled the provision in compliance to the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP), 2019 vis-à-vis commitment of State Government’s “ease of doing business”. A notification has been issued in this regard.

“Scrapping of licence renewal will create a business-friendly in the State. The entrepreneurs will prefer Odisha as a destination for establishing shops and commercial establishments. Besides, it will also boost the socioeconomic condition of the State,” said the release.
