Ensure people-friendly reception centres: DGP

Published on:

Realising the importance of reception centres (RCs) in the police stations, DGP KB Singh has ordered the district Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to make the RCs effective, efficient and people-friendly.

Through videoconferencing from the State police headquaters, Singh also issued an advisory to the SPs and DCPs in this regard and asked them to personally supervise the matter and submit reports thereon to the police headquarters every month.

As per instructions, the RCs would function in every police station of the State to provide the minimum facility for grievance redressal at the police station level and if exclusive centres are not available, the existing infrastructure will be utilised for such purpose.

SPs would personally supervise the RCs and ensure its functioning properly. The RCs officer-in-charge would maintain a register to keep details of the visitors. The register would also contain the signature and contact number of the visitors.

The SPs will submit a monthly report to State police headquarters every month mentioning therein the number of persons visited the centre, purpose of visit and the action taken on their grievances, said Singh.
