Abinash Behera (19), an engineering student of Bhubaneswar and the only son of Banshidhar Behera working in the Paradip Port Trust and belonging to Talagaon village under the Balikuda police station, died in a tragic incident on late Monday evening.
It is alleged that an ice cream vendor near the Jagannath Mausimaa temple had an altercation with some youths of the Brundabana Colony and the vendor had called Abinash to compromise the incident. Abinash was hit by a piece of wood by one Bapina Swain amidst the verbal duel.
Abinash was rushed to the Paradip Port Trust hospital, from where he was referred to Cuttack, but he died on the way. On his father’s FIR, the Paradip police have detained Bapina and five other youths.
