The Jeypore Vigilance Special Judge on Monday convicted Rayagada, RWS and S Section, former JE Damodar Mallick, at present Rayagada’s Kashipur RWS and S Assistant Engineer and his wife for possession of disproportionate assets of Rs 21, 77,893 to their known sources of income.
The Judge sentenced them to undergo two years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) and to pay fine of Rs 50,000, in default, to undergo more six months’ RI.
They were convicted for showing undue official favour to the suppliers in purchase of 20 bleaching dozer at the exorbitant price causing wrongful gain of Rs 5, 93,252 to the suppliers and wrongful loss to the government.
Mallick residence located at Pipili in Puri district and Gandhi Nagar in Rayagarh district were searched simultaneously and movable and immovable assets worth Rs 44, 12,564 were traced out from the possession and his family members.
