The Vigilance police on Thursday caught Iswar Das, Assistant Engineer (Electrical), Aska Lift Irrigation Sub-Division in Ganjam district, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
Das had demanded the bribe from a complainant for check measurement of his bill regarding construction of a river lift irrigation point located at Kotokola-IV Lift Irrigation Project under Buguda block in the district.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were conducted on the rented residential house at Brahmapur and office chamber of Das at Aska and his house at native village Brundabanchandrapur Sasan in Kabisuryanagar of Ganjam district.Later, the accused was arrested and forwarded to court.
