The State Government on Friday suspended an engineer for dereliction of duty in infrastructural work for the ensuing Nabakalebar Rath Yatra.
“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has suspended Saroj Das, Project Engineer of Odisha Water, Sanitation and Sewerage Board, for dereliction of duty,” a one-line statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.
Das, an Executive Engineer, Public Health, had been sent on deputation by the Govt as the Project Engineer to oversee water, sanitation and sewerage work in Puri ahead of the Nabakalebar. Infra work for the Nabakalebar has fallen far behind schedule and the suspension of the engineer is meant to serve as a warning to other officials to speed up work, according to observers.
