A diploma engineering student fell off a waterfall from a height of as much as 200 feet at Nalichuan under the Bhatli police limits in Bargarh district on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Rahul Das, who was hospitalised, has sustained critical injuries in his waist and back.
According to reports, Das, a resident of Govindapalli in Bargarh town, had gone on an outing with five friends after informing his parents that he was going to college.
While mounting a small portion of the waterfall, his legs slipped, as a result of which he tumbled down from it.
