End practice of Naveen holding Home portfolio: OJM

Published on:

The Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) on Tuesday demanded that the practice of Chief Minister holding Home portfolio in the State be stopped immediately for the better mobilisation and free functioning of police administration.

OJM vice-president Chandra Mishra said generally Chief Ministers work in a very hectic schedule and have no time to see the daily affairs of the police administration. Hence, the law and order situation in the State is fast deteriorating. The recent death of Mahakalpada rape and burn victim Sujata Bairagi and rape of a deaf and dumb girl in Bhubaneswar has exposed the grim reality.

In this context, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should immediately give up the Home portfolio and bestow the responsibility on a capable and dynamic person.     “If Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wants that law takes its own course, he should immediately allot the Home portfolio to an efficient person,” said Mishra.
