The joint eviction team consisting of BMC, BDA, GA Department and Commissionerate Police on Wednesdaydemolished two AC-sheeted structures over the Government Road (land bearing plot number- 917) at Madhusudan Nagar mouza in Kharavel Nagar in the city.
The above land was acquired by the Government through acquisition process and handed over the land to the GA Department for expansion of Bidyut Marg road (150'-0") since 1982. After acquisition of the land from one Raghu Nath Sahoo, the GA Department had allotted an alternative homestead land measuring an area 45' x 60' in favour of Sahoo in the year 1992 at Chandrasekharpur.
After getting the alternative land, Sahoo instead of vacating the
land filed a case before the Odisha High Court and became able to obtain stay order. later the case was disposed of on June 22 this year in favour of the Government.
The land was encroached by Sahoo since 1998, said BDA liasioning Officer Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty. After disposal of the case, the unauthorised structure was demolished in the presence of police force and Government officials.
