The Keonjhar district administration evicted encroachment of a Government land here.

Sources revealed that  in the year  2012 , the Government  had transferred a  land of  25 decimal  from  khata no  178 under plot no.571of   mauza-  Kumarjoda under Joda RI circle of Barbil Tehsil in the name of the Excise department for the construction of departmental thana and staff quarters. But  that land was encroached by one  Apat family who were the owners of the land  adjacent to the Government land  allotted to Excise department.

So a dispute started when the PWD department started the construction work in the year 2013 as Apart family obstructed the work saying that if there will be construction then a road  to their plot will be closed. Since that day, there was no progress in the construction. However, after the joining of Shrikara Majhi as Excise Superintendent, he wrote to the  Collector, Keonjhar  regarding the problem and requested him to solve it. Accordingly, Sub- Collector , Champua Gaurahari Behera took steps to free the land from encroachment  but he had to  face stiff opposition and had to return empty hand  as the encroachers created law and order problem by pelting stones at the Government staff. After getting a complaint from Pratap Chandra Samal ,Excise Sub- Inspector ,Joda police booked a case against ten members of Apat family under section 107 .On Wednesday, the eviction started under the leadership of Tehsildar Barbil Arun Kumar Mallick with 2 platoons of  police force
