Unlike the Rental Colony incident where the city eviction team faced stiff opposition from locals and was forced to stop the encroachment drive, the joint eviction team consisting of BDA, BMC, GA and Commissionerate police on Monday managed to clear evictions between Sailashree Vihar and Niladri Vihar under Chandrasekharpur police limits without any opposition.
Requisition to clear the unauthorised structures on both sides of the road was made by the General Administration Department.
Around 30 asbestos shops and one house, 16 wooden cabins and three polythene sheds were demolished.
The rest of the encroachments would be conducted on Tuesday. The demolition drive conducted was conducted under the supervision of BDA Enforcement Officer Pramod Kuar Patro, liasioning Officer Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty.
Adequate security arrangements were made to avoid any untoward incident.
