Employees seek action against Rs250-crore fraud

The Class-IV Employees’ Union of the Bhadrak-based Barapada School of Engineering and Technology (BSET) has demanded action against all persons involved in the alleged Rs250-crore land scam of institution.

Addressing a Press conference here, union members alleged that Bhandaripokhari BJD MlA Prafulla Samal and his son Prayaskanti Samal are involved in the scam.

“Samal and his family have illegally encroached landed property inside the BSET campus. The Skill Development and Technical Education Minister is helping the family, and hence no action has been taken,” alleged union member Bijaya Rout.

Stating that Prayasakanti has mentioned three different names of his MlA father in several land related documents, he said it establishes the family’s involvement in the fraud. Prayaskantri has mentioned two other names, Pradeep Samal and Saroj Samal besides the name Prafulla Samal, said Rout.

The family has sold out landed property and costly vehicles of the college. Though a social worker had lodged a complaint against them in the Bhadrak rural police station, yet no action has been taken, he alleged further.

Another employee Gouranga Rout demanded that the Samal family return all the properties to the college and a proper inquiry  be conducted into the illegal activities to unravel truth and find out others involved in the scam.

Among others, Harihar Das, Jatindra Ghadai and Prafulla Jena were present.
