Employees protest Nesco way of functioning

Published on:

Contractual employees under the banner of Nesco United Engineers and Employees Association held a demonstration in front of the Collectorate protesting the way of the functioning of the power distribution company under the current management. They burnt the effigies of Managing Director Sandesh Rane and officer on special duty Basudev Panda, besides giving slogans against the company.

They alleged the company was not supplying adequate materials for the maintenance of lines and sub stations, while the management was neither recruiting adequate manpower, nor filling up the vacant posts.

The employees under contractual agreement have been working for years together in the place of the vacant posts without any sign of being absorbed as permanent staff, they further charged.

The agitators earlier took out a rally and handed over a memorandum with several demands to the district administration for the State Energy Minister.

Basu Mallick, Tarakanta Pattnayak, Ashok Ghosh, Golak Samal, Yogendra Agasti, Narasingha Panda, Batakrushna Panda, Mutikanta Panda, Manoj Nayak and Gouranga Panigrahi, among others, spoke.
