Buckling under pressure from general people, the State Government on Saturday said no criminal case would be filed against ineligible NFSA cardholders while extending the card return date till September 30.

Addressing a Press meet, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma too assured that all eligible beneficiaries would be given ration cards under the National Food Security Act in a month’s time.

“The people who have taken ration cards by furnishing false information need to return the cards by September 30. They will not return cost of subsidised items already availed by them and no fines will be charged on them if they return cards within the stipulated time,” he said, adding that the Government would return fines to those who have already deposited while returning cards and no criminal case would be filed.

He too stated that people having three-room houses provided under Indira Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojan or Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana can now apply for NFSA cards. “The Government has struck out the three-room criterion for non-availing of NFSA cards. The eligible beneficiaries, whose names have been deleted or those who have not yet applied, can now apply to get NFSA cards,” he said.
