An elephant carcass was recovered from Badakheta forest in the Satkosia Wildlife Division on Monday. As per preliminary investigation, the elephant was 15 years old and was killed due to electrocution.
Sources said the elephant came in contact with live electric wires set clandestinely to kill wild animals by mafias. The
Forest Department rushed to the site on a tip-off from locals who first saw the carcass first. The Satkosia DFO and ACF among others were at the spot. They said the carcass would be sent for postmortem and the case would be investigated.
