In order to seek information about the damage rendered by the cyclone Huhhud in electricity sector from affected people and to ensure speedy repair, the Energy department has issued helpline numbers to help the consumers under Southern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha ltd (Southco) and Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU). The department has issued two helpline numbers each for Southco and CESU consumers. For Southco consumers the numbers are 9437570294/9437480026 while for CESU area it is 9438676810/9937008165.
The department has already engaged 1500 Southco and CESU staff for restoration works during and post cyclone.
In a statement to the media, Energy department Principal Secretary Suresh Mohapatra said that the department has decided to disconnect power if the wind speed exceeded 20-30 kmph for the safety of the people. He also cautioned the people not to touch any snapped electric wire.
