The Nikhil Odisha Bidyut Sramik Mahasangh has called for a mass dharna on April 26 to protest the apathetic attitude of the OPTCl authorities in solving various longstanding problems faced by the workers.

“Due to some unskilled HR officials, the workers are subjected to mental torture since long while. Similarly, the SlDC and OPTCl staffs are being structured on monopoly basis. While the ITI workers are not appointed as helper, highly qualified workers are not given promotion,” alleged a worker.

Besides, all the issues of the workers are taken for discussion, but in vein, said another worker.

Members of the body further alleged that worker Subrat Routray’s of the Kendrapada Grid died in a manmade mishap, but the engineer responsible for his death is freely moving. The Mahasangh demanded equal insurance for accidents for all and immediate arrest of the person responsible for Routray’s death.   Mahasangh general secretary Akshay Tripathy and secretary Pabitra Mohapatra urged all electricity workers to join the dharna in large number.
