10 hurt in group clash at B’giri

At least 10 persons were injured in a group clash at booth no 20 at Gopalpur under Brahmagiri block in Puri district during the polls on Thursday morning. According to reports, what started as an altercation between two groups of the village later turned violent. As the police failed to restore normalcy, they resorted to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the unruly villagers. The constituency witnessed a keen fight between sitting BJD MlA Sanjay Dasburma and former Congress MlA lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra.
NBWs against 54 erring officials

Kendrapada District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Collector of Nitin Bhanudas Jawale on Thursday ordered the concerned authorities to issue non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against 109 polling officials, who failed to turn up for polling duty in different areas in the district.As many as 54 of these erring officials had been assigned duties in the Mahakalpada Assembly constituency alone.
Polling agent arrested for damaging EVM

In another incident, an old man was injured after he was assaulted by security personnel at booth no-151 at Hatadihi in Keonjhar district.
Officer detained for seeking votes for BJD

A polling officer of Jagannathprasad booth under the Khandapada Assembly constituency in Nayagarh district was detained by the police for asking voters to vote for the ruling BJD.Angry voters thrashed the erring polling official before handing him over to the police, reports said.
