Bodies of an elderly couple were found at Jharakata village under the Rajkanika police station in Kendrapada district in the wee hours on Friday, suggesting a possible foul play.
The couple’s bodies were found under mysterious circumstances, pointing fingers towards possible murder of the duo. While the body of 65-year-old Bhagaban Das was found in the cowshed of his house, his wife Marua was found dead in her bedroom.
Prima facie, it appeared to be a case of murder as blood stains were found in the house, a police official said. “The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and we are investigating the case. The autopsy report will throw light on the cause of deaths,” he added.
Meanwhile, police detained the son of the deceased who works in an automobile workshop at Ali in the district for questioning.
According to locals, the son had visited his house late on Thursday night and left for his workplace after a couple of hours. He could have murdered his parents, they suspected.
On the other hand, the accused claimed that his father could have committed suicide as he suffered losses in business.
