In a ghastly act, an elderly man and her wife were allegedly burnt alive by some miscreants at Nimaplli village under the Kalinganagar police station in Jajpur district late on Sunday night.
Though the exact reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, it is alleged that some villagers committed the crime as they were suspecting that the couple of practising sorcery. They set their house on fire whilt they were sleeping.
Being informed, local police and SP CS Meena reached the spot on Monday morning and started an investigation.
“Investigation is on to ascertain the circumstances under which the two died. We are also looking into the allegation that the couple was killed for practising sorcery,” the SP said.
