The Commissionerate police (CP) have made elaborate security arrangements for the Baliyatra in Cuttack which would be held after two years of discontinuation due to the Covid pandemic.
City DCP Pinak Mishra said stress would be laid on crowd and traffic management. Besides, special focus has been given to check criminal activities during the fair. “The number of police aid and traffic posts will be increased this year apart from special measures for crowd and traffic management,” said Mishra.
He further said Police Support Centres would be strengthened so that they offer better services to the visitors. The Police Support Centres would come up at seven to eight different locations.
The visitors no longer would have to visit the Cantonment police station to lodge a complaint if they lose any article or face any problems during the fair. Such visitors would be given a form at the Police Support Centres so that they can register their complaint/ grievances at the spot, the DCP said.
A dedicated children’s corner would also come up at the Police Support Centres which would help reunite children who get lost during the fair with their parents, he said.
To check incidents of eve-teasing and molestation, special police teams would be formed for safety of women. The teams would dedicatedly work to check such incidents.
Special fluorescent jackets would be given to police officers so that it becomes easier for people to identify and seek immediate assistance from them, the DCP added
