The minority community members, on Tuesday,
observed the Eid-ul- fitr with much pomp and gaiety amid tight police
security.
The Muslim of Kendrapada township performed their special prayers
(namaj) in three mosques and two Eidgahs. Later, they paid a visit to
a burial ground to offer prayer for their near and dear ones.
Hundreds of women members of the community went to Urdu Bazaar
based-Ahele-Hadis mosque for performing a special prayer on the
occasion.
Abu Obeda, a Muslim intellectual, said the members organised special
prayer for peace and brotherhood in the world. They organized duhas
before the almighty for a halt to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, he
added.
Political leaders were seen paying visit to the Muslim dominated
villages and muhallas. Security was beefed up in the district in order
to avert any untoward incident during the celebration of Eid. Several
Hindus also visited the houses of the Muslim to cement bond of
brotherhood on the special occasion.
