Marking the end of the month-long Ramzan fasting, Muslims from all walks of life gathered in the industrial town here on Saturday to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with fervour and gaiety.
Community leaders said Eid celebrations at Jharsuguda, Brajarajnagar abd Belpahar towns and rural pockets of the district began after offering of morning prayers at different mosques.
A festive atmosphere prevailed through the district on the occasion.
After the prayers were over, people hugged each other, wished ‘Eid Mubarak’ and exchanged gifts among themselves. Besides, they enjoyed special dishes like Sewayian made of vermicelli and phirni and different varieties of Biryani and kebabs. Elders gave Eidei (token money) to children.
