Eggs lobbed again at Dasburma in home turf

Amid warning and counter-warning among the ruling BJD and Opposition Congress over the current egg attacks, there is no letup in the episode of egg pelting and black flag showing to Ministers as Food and Supplies Minister Sanjay Dasburma on Saturday faced the wrath of Congress activists.

For the third time in last seven days, Dasburma was hurled eggs at Natia Square along the Puri-Satpada road on Saturday.

A group of 15 to 20 Yuva and Chhatra Congress activists hurled eggs at the Minister's car when he was on his way to Chilika to review the preparations for the ensuing Chilika Mahotsav.

The Congress activists have been targeting Ministers for gross irregularities in preparation of digitised ration card lists under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the alleged failure of the Government to sort out common people's problems.

On January 5 and 6, Dasburma had faced angry protests by Congress activists in Puri and Chhatrapur in Ganjam district where he too was targeted with black flags and eggs prompting the Minister to name a former MlA of his district for masterminding the protests.

Not only Dasburma, School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra and Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak were also hurled eggs and shown black flags during their visits to Sambalpur, Deogarh and Cuttack districts.

Though the ruling BJD has warned the Congress for a tit for tat treatment, but it seems to have no impact on the opposition party.
