More than a week after an egg was pelted at Kendrapada MP Baijayant Panda during a drinking water project inauguration in Mahanga of Cuttack district, the local police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
The case was registered under Sections 147, 148, 294, 323, 337, 355, 506 and 149 of the IPC on the basis of a complaint lodged by Subhendra Nayak, a social activist, on Wednesday.
Mahanga police station Sub-Inspector JK Das has been given the charge of investigation into the complaint.
Notably, several BJD workers, believed to be supporters of Mahanga MlA and law and Health Minister Pratap Jena, had pelted eggs and brickbats at Panda. An egg directly hit Panda’s head after he inaugurated a drinking water project at Jatiparilo village under Rahania panchayat in Mahanga block on May 30.
