It has been decided to reopen the Balarpur Industries limited (BIlT), a paper mill, in a high level meeting here at Jeypore.

A team led by CGM Dharam Pal Dhimon and other officials met different leaders and members of the union of the paper mill and assured to reopen the paper mill if there will be everyone’s support.

According to sources, the team which came from Delhi, had an interaction with SDPO Rajendra Kumar Senapati regarding the law and order situation.

According to the CGM Dhimon, the BIlT was incurring a loss of Rs 50 crore per annum. “We are seeking the support of all the workers to run the mill. There will be a discussion with the truck owners association to fix a price for transportation,” he said.

Since June 3, 2016 the unit, which has a capacity to manufacture nearly 200 ton of papers per day, has been shut down. However, there is a demand to reopen the factory.  The factory had a total 600 regular workers and nearly 1,000 temporary staffers. About 5,000 families have been affected after its closure.
