Digital financial literacy and financial inclusion is a major focus today to make India gradually a ‘less cash’ society by 2020. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is pioneering with back-end technologies to fulfil the dream and promoting mobile-based transaction practices across the country,” said NPCI MD and CEO Abhaya Prasad Hota at a seminar here.

The State level seminar was organised on Monday by Abhyutthana Financial learning Centre (AFlC), a forum initiated by a group of senior banking professionals who are instrumental in promoting larger public awareness on financial literacy and financial inclusion since 2014.  OdishalIVE, the first web channel network of Odisha, was the digital media partner.

Addressing the gathering, Hota mentioned that after demonetisation in last year, India is now heading towards a more inclusive society to adopt the digital transactions in everyday life. Several measures including the JAM trinity – Jan Dhan Accounts with Rupay Cards, Aadhar Based Payment System and Mobile Banking are the new mantra by the Reserve Bank of India and the Central Government too. The NPCI is working closely towards another BTT trinity – Bharat Bill Payment System, Toll Gate Payment at National Highways and Transactions in cities and towns, which will change the entire scenario of digital financial inclusion in the country soon.

“In Odisha, we are consistently working with students, teachers, youths, media and others relevant to make our people understand and practice the benefit of digital transactions though using mobile based technologies and debit/ credit cards for even every smaller transactions,” said founder and managing partner, AFlC Dasarathi Mishra.

Chief guest former bureaucrat Aurobindo Behera appealed to practice more and more digital transactions using mobile banking, e-banking etc. Nilambar Rath, Founder Editor and CEO, OdishalIVE, opined that greater awareness generation would be possible by promoting the benefits of using digital transaction modes through various social media platforms along with other media.
