Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said his Government is taking various steps to build Bhubaneswar as the number one IT destination among the Tier-II cities in the country.

“The State Government is committed to creating an open environment to attract investment from IT industries and foreign investors. In order to promote such investments, IT Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are being established at Infocity and Infovalley in Bhubaneswar. To accommodate future development in the IT sector, particularly in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), the Government is also developing an IT Investment Region (ITIR) on the southern part of Bhubaneswar,” said Patnaik while inaugurating an e-Odisha Summit here.

Stating that four major IT players Infosys, TCS, Wipro and Mahindra Satyam have established their development centres in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik said, “It is a matter of pride that the IT exports from the State were more than Rs 1,600 crore during 2011-12 with a growth of 17 per cent over the previous year. The Software Technology Park of India at Bhubaneswar is one of the oldest STPIs in the country. Apart from Bhubaneswar, the STPIs at Brahampur and Rourkela are also playing a very vital role for employment in the IT sector.”

Patnaik also maintained that the Government has developed a number of successful e-Governance initiatives including e-Registration, e-Treasury, e-Commercial Tax, e-Abhijog, SAMS, e-District, e-Despatch and e-Municipalily and many more.
