The Freethought Party of India (FPI) opined that imparting quality education in English medium and application of one-child family norm can only nail down the menace of child labour throughout the world.
FPI general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire opined this while observing the World Day against Child Day here on Tuesday along with Unicef, Bhubaneswar chief Yumi Bae and other noted persons. He said education in namesake can’t resolve child labour menace at all.
Stating that the whole world is grossly over-populated and experiencing global warming of alarming nature, Voltaire suggested to the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Unicef to ask countries like India, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Pakistan to scale down their population by adopting one-child family norm.
“All children of the world, including those in South Asia, West Asia, South-East Asia, Africa and latin America, should be provided with quality education in English free of cost irrespective of the parental status. Quality schooling and adoption of one-child family norm coupled with scientific-cum-humanistic attitude can really solve the problem of child labour and migrant labour,” he said and called upon the world leadership to act accordingly.
Otherwise, the observance of the World Day against Child labour would be reduced to a mere ritual, he said.
On the occasion, five pairs of lovers secured the AMOFOI love Marriage and pledged to go in for one-child family norm.
