ED puts up no-entry notice at Sarathi ashram

Two days after self-styled godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Roul was released from jail on a conditional bail, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday put up a notice at his ashram at Barimula here restricting entry of his devotees into its premises.

A four-member ED team displayed the notice that mentioned a list of Sarathi Baba’s immovable properties currently under the possession of the ED under Section 8 (4) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. Trespassers into the ashram would be prosecuted, the notice warned.

This was done in apprehension of entry of Sarathi’s followers into the ashram following his release from jail after four years.

Meanwhile, nobody knows where Sarathi Baba has gone after his release from the jail.

The Crime Branch police would keep a strict vigil on Sarathi Baba’s activities to ensure that he follows the bail conditions set by the Orissa High Court. Stringent action would be taken against Sarathi if he is found flouting the court order, Crime Branch ADG Santosh Upadhyay had said on Friday.
