In view of the ensuing Diwali festival, the railway authority has geared up its machinery to check carryout out of fire crackers and other inflammable substances in passengers and Mail/Express trains in order to avoid any kind of fire mishap in trains.
In this context, the East Coast Railways (ECoR) has formed a special squad to keep a strict vigil on shipment of inflammable items in trains for the safety of passengers. Notably, carrying of inflammable objects like crackers, gas cylinder, acid, petrol, kerosene, etc during train journey is a punishable offence under the Railway Act 1989 and the offender may get an imprisonment up to three years.
The ECoR has urged passengers to be careful and not to carry inflammable objects while travelling on trains. Further, if any passenger is seen carrying inflammable items, the co-passengers are requested to inform it to on-duty railway staffs like TTEs, coach attendants, train guards, station managers and RPF and GRP personnel. Passengers can SMS or call on Help line number- 8455885777 and 8455885999 to report such related incidents.
