ECoR holds level Crossing Awareness Day

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) observed the International level Crossing Awareness Day on Friday holding awareness campaigns to educate road users through various media and distribution of posters, leaflets and documentary.

ECoR Chief Safety Officer Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra inaugurated the programme at the manned level-crossing gate near the lingaraj Road station here.

Mishra said life is more precious that one’s time and one must not risk life while crossing the unmanned level-crossings because trains move faster than they appear to be and can reach the level-crossing sooner than one thinks.

ECoR GM Umesh Singh has directed to eliminate all unmanned level-crossing gates in the ECoR jurisdiction by 2018-19, Mishra informed.

Khurda Road Division civil defense volunteers also staged a street play and distributed leaflets, placards and banners for educating the road users about the precautions to be taken while negotiating the unmanned level-crossings.
