The Civil Defence Organisation of the East Coast Railways (ECoR) celebrated the 52nd annual Civil Defence Raising Day here on Saturday. ECoR GM Rajiv Vishnoi said that civil defence is an effort to protect the citizens in emergency operations, prevention, mitigation, preparation, response or emergency evacuation and recovery.
The ECoR’s Civil Defence organisation always stands in frontline for rescue operations in all eventualities and ha splayed exceptional role during the recent cyclonic storms Hudhud and Phailin. On this raising day, the civil defence personnel demonstrated their skills in fire fighting, rescue techniques from high rise buildings, first aid, etc. The programme was coordinated by DGM and Controller of Civil Defence SK Purohit.
