The 11th Zonal Executive Meeting of the East Coast Railway Engineers’ Association was held at the Mancheswar Workshop here on Sunday. It was decided to conduct the 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Nalco auditorium on May 5.

During the AGM, a seminar on ‘Role of engineers on efficient and safe operation of railway system’ would be held for discussions as to how to reduce the incidents of death of elephants on railway tracks and accidents at level crossings. A technical souvenir would also be released.

It was also unanimously decided to support the decision taken by the All India Railway Engineers’ Federation (AIREF) to stage a mass dharna in New Delhi on July 22 against the delay in fulfilling long-pending demands such as salary at par with non-technical staff, Group-B status to all engineers and separate recognition to the AIREF.

The meeting was presided over by association president S Bajapayi and conducted by general secretary Bobin Mohanty. PP Beura welcomed the members and at the end IA Khan gave the vote of thanks.
