ECoR employee 'flouts' conduct rules

Published on:

An incident has come to the fore in which the Central Government norms to govern the conduct of Central PSU employees, which bars them from political activities and criticising Government policies or actions, were flouted by an officer of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) Carriage Repair Workshop, Mancheswar’s Senior Section Engineer and ECoR Shramik Union branch secretary Gopinath Malik during a gate meeting and strike in front of the workshop.

Sources said a gate meeting was called on July 4, 2016 by Malik and in a letter to the ECoR authorities it was categorically mentioned by him that gate meeting would be held in a ‘peaceful manner’ in front of the Carriage Repair Workshop.

On the contrary it is learnt and proved from the photographs taken during the meeting that Malik burnt the effigy of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and also the Seventh Pay Commission Report in front of workshop main gate flouting the Central Governments norm for employees.

Sources said this anti- Government activity by Malik is violating the Railways’ Service (conduct) Rules-1966 (Item-8 and 9), being a railway employee.

All such activities were also witnessed by his central officer-bearers of ECoR Shramik Union and many times these types of anti-Government activities were reported to the railway authorities but in vain and no action was taken against the offence made by the delinquent railway employee Malik.

It is demanded that stringent action should be taken against the guilty employee under the Service Conduct Rules to ensure that such type of incidents don’t occur in future.
