Election Commissioners HS Brahma and Nasim Zaidi are scheduled to visit Bhubaneswar on Wednesday to review the preparedness for the simultaneous elections to the lok Sabha and the State Assembly to be held in two phases on April 10 and 17.
During a high-level meeting, Brahma and Zaidi would take stock of the law and order situation, particularly in the Maoists-infested areas, deployment of forces, implementation of Model Code of Conduct and functioning of various observers, besides measures to conduct free and fair elections, provision of minimum facilities at polling stations, communication plan and functioning of complaint redressal mechanism etc.
Prior to their visit, Deputy Election Commission Alok Shukla and two Director Generals of the Election Commission of India (ECI) have already arrived here to participate in the review meeting. During the meeting, State Chief Electoral Officer Mona Sharma, Chief Secretary Jugal Kisore Mohaptra, Police DG Prakash Mishra, Home Secretary Bipin Saxena and senior officials related to election process would also remain present, official sources said.
According to sources, Brahma along with Zaidi would hold a Press meeting.
