In an inhuman incident, a minor child sustained injuries after a roadside eatery owner in Rayagada town allegedly threw hot chaat on him as he asked for his remuneration.
The child, identified as Charan Huika, was working as a help at the chaat stall (snacks eatery) on the Convent Road. When he area asked for his pay, the employer got infuriated and poured hot food on his head.
“I asked him for money. He threw hot chaat on me while I was sitting on a chair,” the victim said.
The victim and his mother lodged a complaint in this regard at the Rayagada police station, after which labour Department officials initiated probe into the allegation.
“I was not there at home. I had gone to work. I was unaware whether he (her son) goes to work or not. He used to say that he goes out to play,” the child’s mother said.
Meanwhile, the eatery owner was absconding after the incident.
