E-Sishu portal for child protection launched

The State Government has launched e-Sishu Suchana, a database and application software meant for protection and development of children.

The portal would help in analysing data in an error-free manner and taking speedy decisions regarding children, said Women and Child Development Principal Secretary Anu Garg.

“Child Protection is about protecting children from or against any perceived or real danger or risk to life, personhood and childhood. While protection is a right of every child, some children are more vulnerable than others and need special attention.

The Government recognises these children as 'children in difficult circumstances', characteriaed by their specific social, economic and geo-political situations,” said an official in  the W&CD Department.

He said it is imperative to ensure that all children remain protected. The E-Sishu Suchana is a flagship project of the Odisha State Child Protection Society (OSCPS), W and CD Department and Mission Shakti. The Centre for Modernising Government Initiative (CMGI), under the General Administration (GA) Department has collaborated the project.

Special features of this portal include registration of new institutions and children, maintaining database of existing institutions and children, eliminating duplicate and fake enrolments from the children home and generating quarterly and monthly reports as and when required.

Through the portal, an agency can track the detail record on inflow of children, data during their stay in agencies, exit details of children and also the data of children completing age of 18 years.

While standardized data entry and reporting format will help in getting error free data, evidence would be generated at each level to check and validate the data.
