A person was killed and another sustained grievous injuries after a car, reportedly belonging to sprinter Dutee Chand, hit a truck from the rear on NH-16 near Biju Nagar under the Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, Utkal Guni (25) and Dhaneswar Das (24), two relatives of Dutee Chand, had gone out with the car to learn driving. However, they lost control over the wheels, following which the vehicle dashed against a stationary paddy-laden truck near Biju Nagar.
While Guni died on the spot, injured Das was rescued by police and admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
