Dust pollution, no hygiene, water woes

Civic amenities in ward-19 of Bargarh Municipality are in utter disarray.

Over 100 trucks are running daily from Mastertikira Chowk to the railway station in the ward, creating acute dust pollution  in the areas but the authorities are nonchalant.

Electric polls have no sufficient street lights, while unscheduled power cuts and problems in supply of drinking water have created much inconvenience for the residents. The ward is situated near the Railway station. The drain from Golpada to hospital is not cleaned for a year.

As a result, mosquitoes get an ideal breeding ground which has led to several diseases. Meanwhile, dust pollution in the areas has led to TB disease.

Although the residents have brought the problems to the notice of the authorities several times, but they were just ignored."This time, however, we are planning to hold agitation if the civic authorities did not take any step to solve the problems," warned many residents.
