The Commissionerate police on Tuesday busted a duplicate cement factory operating from a godown at the Bhagwanpur Industrial Estate in the Patrapada area in Bhubaneswar.
The factory which was allegedly manufacturing duplicate cement was operating from 2002.The factory was allegedly being run by one Jiten Sibani who has been detained by police following the raid at the unit. Police said the unit used to mix genuine cement with marble dust and artificial colours before packing the adulterated cement in the name of various reputed brands. Along with duplicate cement, the unit also produced fake white cement, wall putty and colours.
“Based on reliable inputs, we conducted the raid at the factory and seized thousands of fake cement bags. The owner of the factory has been detained for interrogation,” said a police official. “A detailed probe will be held to ascertain the entire supply chain of the fake cement consignments,” he said.
