About 300 tribal women of Sundargarh who have allegedly been duped by a couple as the latter has taken about `39 lakh from them by assuring of investing the money in a rice mill project and giving them lucrative return, met the Sundargarh Superintendent of Police on Wednesday to get justice. The accused couple is reportedly absconding now.
As per an FIR lodged in Birmitrapur police station on June 20, accused couple Marsalan Surin and his wife Israni Surin of Birmitrapur area had lured some tribal women of Brahamanimara, laokathi, Gandhi Road and Kaidaiba in Birmitrapur on the pretext opening a rice mill at Brahmanimara in which they will give employment to the local women.
The couple had further lured the women that if they invested money in proposed rice mill, they would also get their share of profit. Marsalan and Israni had targeted the women members of several SHGs. However, after getting money from them which was obtained through bank loans, the fraud couple fled the locality and settled in Rourkela.
