Duped investors to adopt NOTA option

The Aarthika Sansthamananka Dwara Khatigrasta Milita Mancha (ASDKMM) on Friday warned that nearly 50 lakh duped investors who have invested their hard-earned money in various chit fund companies would adopt None of the Above (NOTA) option in the ensuing Assembly and lok Sabha elections in the State if the State Government fails to ensure refund of their money before the elections.

Staging a demonstration in front of the Assembly, thousands of investors blamed the Government for its failure in initiating action against the fraudulent chit fund companies. “The State Government is neither taking any effective steps to initiate strong legal action against all the fraudulent companies involved in the crime nor ensures refund of money. Unfortunately, the Government is engaging its police officials to give threats to Alok Jena, who has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into the chit fund scam,” said Mancha convenor Jayanta Das.

Addressing the gathering, social activist Prafulla Samantara urged the State Government to order a CBI inquiry into the chit fund scam and demanded to bring the State Crime Branch, Home Department and Finance Department under the purview of the CBI probe, which should be made under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Among others, Sambad editor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and former Minister Panchanan Kanungo also spoke.
