A case has now come to the fore at Udayagiri village under the Patkura police station in the district where a deaf and dumb widow was gangraped by four miscreants on Monday.
On Tuesday, a nominee for Ward Member post in the village Premlata Parida has lodged an FIR with the Patakura police that her mentally disabled, widowed sister-in-law, who was living with her, was gangraped by four miscreants by brandishing a sharp edged weapon.
As Premlata had gone to her father’s house, the miscreants had taken advantage of her absence and raped the woman, said IIC of Patkura PS Debendra Mallick.
later, the widow was rescued by the neighbours in an unconscious state
and rushed to hospital. The police have lodged a case and investigating into it. When contacted, SP Dayanidhi Gochhayat ruled out any connection between the incident and Premlata being on the fray for the Ward Member post.
